Cast of 'The King's Affection' live-action series poses in modern outfits

In an Instagram post of Netflix Japan, the main cast of the live-action series The King's Affection dons their modern outfits in a photoshoot for a change from their usual Korean traditional clothes. Park Eun-bin, Rowoon, Nam Yoon-soo, and Bae Yoon-kyoung all sport brown and sepia colors, giving them a matching vibe.

What started out slow in terms of ratings is now one of the highest-rated Korean dramas for this season, its 12th episode ranking fourth among the shows in its timeslot with a nationwide viewership rating of 8.8%. The King's Affection offers a derivative plot, but its suspenseful approach to show the conflict of main characters in each episode makes the audience want more.

The King's Affection is adapted from the manhwa "Yeonmo" by Lee So-young first published in 2011 by Daewon C.I. Dam-i is the twin sister of future Prince Lee-hwi, who died in a tragic mistaken-identity situation. To keep the secret of the royal family, she disguises herself as Lee-hwi and grows up into a spiteful prince (Park Eun-bin) all the while pretending to be a boy. She is also compelled to forget Jung Ji-un, her first love, until he shows up one day as a royal tutor (Rowoon). Nam Yoon-soo portrays Lee Hyun, Prince Lee-hwi's loyal and kindhearted cousin, while Bae Yoon-kyoung is Shin So-eun, a girl who is harboring unrequited feelings for Jung Ji-un.

The 20-episode live-action series streams on Netflix on Mondays and Tuesdays at 21:30 and airs on KBS.
