Streaming on November 19, 2021 on Netflix is Cowboy Bebop's live-action adaptation based on the 1998 sci-fi neo-noir anime of the same name. Starring John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, and Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, the 10-episode series boasts a new story that is different from the original material. The developer of the live-action series, André Nemec, is confident that they have done a good job of "not violating the canon in any direction but merely offering some extra glimpses into the world that was already created,” as said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
The director of Cowboy Bebop anime, Shinichirou Watanabe, served as the live-action production's creative consultant, and Yoko Kanno, who previously composed the soundtrack for the 1998 anime also scored for this Netflix adaptation.
