'Will I Be Single Forever?' live-action movie holds premiere night

The cast and director of Will I Be Single Forever? grace the October 19 premiere night of the live-action movie based on Okazaki Mari's manga, Zutto Dokushin de Iru Tsumori? Tanaka Minami stars as Honda Mami, a famous writer who is being pressured by the people around her to get married. At 36 years old, her works have been unsuccessful compared with her big-hit essay 10 years ago, but Mami stands unfazed amid her personal and professional struggles. Other cast members include Ichikawa Miwako, Matsumura Sayuri, Tokunaga Eri, and Inaba Yu.

At the premiere night, Tanaka reveals that she used to consider marriage as an escape route when she was in her late 20s. She is turning 35 years old this year and also single, but she has not decided on how to handle it until she finds a good person. Tanaka advises the audience that marriage should be a choice that anyone is free to make despite the pressures around them.

Will I Be Single Forever? will be shown in theaters in Japan on November 19, 2021.
